I'm being lazy here and just copied and paste a resource that I wrote for another forum. This sets you and your customer up for success. We and possibly others have a referral program so that you can get a cut of the good recovery even if we get it for your customer. Honesty will make your company great even if you can't give the solution to the customer yourself. You will want to go to training for recovery and there are several places to go for that now. You don't need to go out and buy any tools yet, but when you come across a problem drive, be realistic in what you will try and don't sacrifice the customer drive to just try. DO NOT USE THE CUSTOMER DRIVE AS A TEST CASE! I state this because we get a LOT of drives from IT people wanting to help others get their data back and want to do a "last ditch effort", but that destroys any effort by a professional recovery place. It's best to start small, but be honest with your customers the WHOLE way and use the professionals until you are professional. You don't have a clean room and it doesn't sound like you have actually done recovery.
